Hazardous Materials Advisor Refresher Course

It is recommended that operational hazardous material advisors (HMA) receive refresher training at least every three years.
This programme is an ideal way to ensure that all Hazardous Materials Advisors regularly update their skills and competencies in order to fulfill the role with confidence.

Our approach to delivery involves reviewing the theoretical principles and knowledge before the learners are asked to provide advice as part of realistic scenarios. The focus is on the common incident types such as asbestos, acetylene, corrosives and more.

As learners attending this Refresher are expected to be currently serving HMAs, certain amount of underpinning knowledge is assumed, however, this will be assessed by the instructors. The Refresher programme mirrors the initial HMA course but with less emphasis on teaching underpinning knowledge and more focus on refreshing that knowledge and then updating on core knowledge competencies.

There is no requirement to have the knowledge of science or maths to attend the course.

Lunch and refreshments are provided throughout the day on the courses delivered at Tactical Hazmat.
